Sunday brunch

Malmaison London in the snow

If you’ve read this blog for a while you’ll probably know that I love London’s Malmaison hotel and you may also be aware that I’m fond of my weekend brunches. So when I saw on Twitter that the Mal were launching a 4-course Sunday brunch offer I was there (and even a blizzard couldn’t stop me).

We had a midday reservation and prepared well by having a late lunch and no dinner the previous day. Still, we assumed 1 ‘course’ would be tea/coffee and also presumed the portions would be on the smaller side – after all this is a nice hotel in central London and the Mal on Sunday costs just £19.95 (bear in mind London’s average Sunday roast will set you back £15). Oh how wrong we were.

To start I inhaled the best mushroom soup ever, followed by a trip to the Chef’s Table for waffles, pastries and cooked meats and fish; you can actually go up to as many times as you want but I didn’t want to get too full too early. My main course was a huge Mal burger with crispy fries, and I finished off with an incredible hot chocolate, so thick it could almost be a chocolate sauce, topped with marshmallows and ice cream. I don’t even want to consider the calorie-content but, whatever it was, it was worth it. You know a meal is good when you’re still reminiscing about it 5 days later. Our new monthly, post-payday tradition for sure.

This is bonkers, I wonder if they do it in Manchester?! Was the hot chocolate like the French one, where it’s just melted chocolate?

Oh myyyyyy I want that chocolate hot chocolate now. Malmaison looks very welcoming. I could easily sit there all afternoon after filling up on what looks like a delicious meal :) We will have to find out if Manchester do a similar deal :) I do hope so.
