British super-brand Burberry needs no introduction. Who doesn’t want to be a Burberry girl/boy or to be with a Burberry girl/boy (I’m looking at you in particular Rosie, Cara and Eddie)? The new flagship opened in London last week and I visited on Saturday: I can’t tell you how incredible it is. I can tell you that it’s so much more than just a shop, it’s an entire experience, and surely the future of retail.
However astoundingly beautiful and all-encompassing it is, it’s also too luxurious for my bank balance, so yesterday I made my first pilgrimage (of many) to the Burberry Factory Outlet in East London. I’d heard mixed things but the boy and I were both blown away and became genuinely giddy with excitment. It’s much bigger than we expected, there’s a great range of sizes, and the prices are very significantly reduced.
These buckle-up brogues came close to being adopted by me; they were just £94(!) but a size too small and although they almost, almost fit they were admittedly that bit too tight…yeah I’m still regretting leaving those behind. I was also tempted by a Burberry Brit duffle coat with an RRP of £495 and an outlet price of £149 (the only thing stopping me was that I’ve just shelled out for a new camera, I got bills to pay y’all).
Surprisingly they also stock the famous trench. Ok so it’s not cheap; most were about £600-700 but that’s still a worthy saving on the usual £1000-ish price tag.
All in all, it’s probably the best outlet I’ve ever been to and I’ll definitely be re-visiting. If you can’t make it to London there’s also a Burberry outlet at Cheshire Oaks and of course there’s always everyone’s favourite online discount store, The Outnet.
Burberry Factory Outlet, 29-31 Chatham Place, London, E9 6LP (nearest Overground station: Hackney Central).
